Natural Neighbourhoods

A network of natural neighbourhoods that will be an exemplar of carbon-neutral, sustainable living and innovation, with infrastructure planned and delivered from the outset. A mixed-use community, offering new employment, high quality homes, community space, new green spaces and wildlife havens. A unique opportunity to internalise our travel and to create easy and green alternatives to the car, with a new Sharpness railway station. An opportunity to tackle climate change and change people’s perceptions about building for the better.

Sharpness Vale is a draft allocation in the Stroud District Draft Local Plan.  We will engage the local community from early on.

Aspiring to carbon neutral

Aspiring to a carbon neutral target. A sustainable development that directly addresses climate change by using green sources of energy only, abandoning fossil fuels, reducing the need to travel, and enhancing biodiversity. Read about our Climate Change Manifesto here

Directly helping to significantly reduce reliance on the car. Providing purpose-designed green corridors within the Sharpness Vale neighbourhoods to make walking, cycling and scooting easier. Building a new station at Sharpness; providing express coach services direct to key destinations; and adopting a “Mobility-as-a-Service” system to give seamless access to journey planning and ticket booking.

Sustainable Transport

Nurturing Nature

The development will create bio-diversity gains and will positively boost wildlife, trees and plants. An inherent part of the design will be to create a new nature reserve as well as interweaving a web of new and existing green spaces throughout the neighbourhoods. Over half of the site will be green space.

Creating exemplar homes

Modern, high quality sustainable homes, including affordable homes, that are deliverable and ingeniously designed.

Bringing people together

A place to socialise with neighbours - retail and community uses that complement the surrounding areas in a small, accessible local centre.

A catalyst for employment & innovation

A 10ha business park to include space for new business start-ups. Lightning-fast gigabit-level broadband network will be provided.

A Place To Learn

New education provision– land for new primary schools and a secondary school.

Boost to the local economy

An estimated 591 jobs in the construction phase; £17 million expenditure a year with shops and businesses in the Stroud district; £10.3 million increase in council tax revenue.
